The world of entertainment mourns the loss of group Astro's Moonbin, who passed away at the young age of 25. His sudden death has left fans in Korea and abroad in shock.

Moonbin, born in 1998, entered the entertainment industry in 2009 with a role in the KBS2 drama "Boys Over Flowers." Before that, he appeared in the music video for TVXQ's "Balloons" in 2006 and gained attention as a "mini TVXQ."

In 2016, he officially debuted as a member of the boy group Astro under Fantagio. With his exceptional dancing skills, he took on the roles of the main dancer and sub-vocalist in the group. He received much love for songs like "Baby," "Crazy Sexy Cool," "Breathless," "Always You," and "Knock." His recent activities with the group have left fans even more shocked by his passing. In January, he formed a unit with fellow member Sanha, releasing their mini-album "Incense" and gaining popularity.

Moonbin was a versatile entertainer, excelling in variety shows and dramas. In particular, he appeared in the 2019 XtvN (now tvN SHOW) comedy show "Trendy Program" as a crew member in Seasons 1 and 2, earning much love. He showcased his hidden talent and humor, bringing laughter to the audience. Last year, he also participated as a crew member in Coupang Play's "SNL Korea" Season 2 due to his connection with the "Trendy Program" production team.

Earlier, Fantagio announced on the morning of the 20th, "On April 19th, Astro member Moonbin suddenly left our side to become a star in the sky." The company added, "The grief of the bereaved family who have lost their beloved son and brother cannot be compared, but Astro members, Fantagio artists, and all employees are deeply mourning in great sorrow and shock."

In accordance with the family's wishes, Moonbin's funeral will be held quietly, attended by family members, relatives, and company colleagues. The agency expressed their heartache for fans, saying, "We know how much Moonbin loved and thought about his fans, so this sudden news is even more heartbreaking." They also requested that speculation and malicious reports be refrained from to allow the grieving family to solemnly pay their respects and say their goodbyes.

According to police and other officials, Moonbin was found dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 8:10 pm on the 19th. The police are investigating the cause of death, including the possibility of suicide. An autopsy is being considered to determine the cause of death.

Just before the news of his death broke, the cancellation of an overseas concert was announced. Astro's unit Moonbin & Sanha was scheduled to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 13th for their "2023 Moonbin & Sanha Fan Con Tour: 'Diffusion' in Jakarta." The concert organizer announced the cancellation on Twitter at around 10 pm on the 19th, stating, "We have to cancel the event due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances."

The memorial is set up at Seoul Asan Hospital, and the funeral procession is scheduled for 8 am on April 22 (KST). Among the surviving family members is Moon Sua, a member of the girl group Billy.

Moonbin's sudden passing has left fans, friends, and family grieving, and the entertainment industry mourning the loss of a talented and beloved star.
