Rapper Ravi (Kim Won-sik, 30) and his agency are under investigation for trying to dodge military service by falsifying a seizure disorder. The case has taken a dramatic turn as it was revealed that Ravi and his agency strongly requested medication despite a doctor's opinion that there were no specific symptoms.

According to the indictment submitted by Rep. Jeong Jeom-sik's office on March 3rd, Ravi was initially classified as a 3rd grade active soldier due to bronchial asthma in his first military physical examination in 2012. He continued to postpone his service until 2019 when he received a 4th grade classification.

In February 2021, Ravi submitted documents to delay his military service for the last time, pledging to faithfully comply when the enlistment date is notified. It was around this time that Kim, the co-CEO of Ravi's agency, was introduced to a military broker, Mr. Gu.

Gu suggested that Ravi could receive a 5th grade exemption through a false seizure disorder diagnosis. Kim and Ravi accepted the proposal and signed a contract in March, with a fee of KRW 50 million. The contract included a clause stating that the full amount would be refunded if Ravi failed to obtain the military exemption.

Ravi's team received a "false seizure disorder scenario" from Gu and acted as if Ravi had suddenly fainted. They called 119 and arrived at the emergency room, where they requested outpatient neurology treatment instead of hospitalization.

During the outpatient treatment, Ravi lied to the doctor, saying he would occasionally faint without realizing it. He scheduled an EEG and MRI examination.

In April, Ravi and Kim were told by the doctor that there were no special abnormalities found in the examination, and no specific treatment or medication was needed. Surprised by the unexpected result, Kim contacted Gu, who instructed them to request a prescription for medication.

Kim returned to the doctor's office and demanded medication, eventually receiving a prescription. Ravi obtained a military-use diagnosis stating that a seizure disorder was suspected and submitted a request for a change of military service disposition to the Military Manpower Administration in June 2021.

Ravi took seizure medication the night before and the morning of the precision physical examination to ensure appropriate drug concentrations were detected in his urine test.

Ravi was granted a 5th grade military exemption in May last year but was re-evaluated as a 4th grade in September due to an error in calculating the prescription period. He entered the military as a social service agent in October.

On February 13th, Ravi and Kim were indicted without detention, while broker Gu is currently undergoing trial for assisting in the evasion of military service.
