Mega K-pop band BLACKPINK's management company YG Entertainment has recently announced that the group will finally make their comeback this summer with a new album.

The agency also said in a press release that the band, which comprises four members, is in the final stages of recording a new album. The announcement came a few months after BLACKPINK said in an interview that they would be dropping an album this year.

According to new reports, BLACKPINK's next comeback will launch a continuous large-scale project extending through the second half of 2022. It has also been said that the quartet will release new music in August this year. The group's large-scale project will reportedly start after the August comeback.

The YG Entertainment official statement said that the company has prepared a lot of BLACKPINK-esque music, which has been composed over a long time with great effort.

Furthermore, by the end of it, along with their comeback, the group will embark on the largest-ever world tour for a South Korean girl group, expanding their communication and reaching global fans.

The company has not, however, announced the official tour name or when it will begin, but details could be pouring in soon as BLACKPINK's upcoming album is slated to be released next month.

BLACKPINK's last tour "In Your Area" world tour, began in the South Korean capital city of Seoul in November 2018 and wrapped up in Japan's Fukuoka in February 2020. The tour comprised shows in nearly 30 cities worldwide. So, if BLACKPINK is saying that the next tour will be the largest ever then it could comprise even more cities globally.

Despite not recording new musical projects as a band for two years, the four-member group that includes Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, remains a force to reckon with both as a mega K-pop group as well as solo performers.

BLACKPINK had their first full-length release in 2020 with "The Album", which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The eight-song album dominated the iTunes chart in 57 places around the globe, making BLACKPINK the first-ever million-selling K-pop girl group. Incidentally, a quarter of those album sales reportedly came from the US itself.

Recently, the K-pop queens made history by becoming the first musical act to get 75 million YouTube subscribers. The four members celebrated the news in a statement by thanking their fandom, the BLINKS, for contributing a lot to this achievement.
