At 7 pm KST on January 13, the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards honored Red Velvet, Zico, and BTS as recipients for the Artist of the Year - Digital Music.

Super Junior's Leeteuk and ITZY's Lia hosted the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards broadcasted by Mnet. For the safety of singers and staff from COVID-19, the award ceremony was held without performances.

The 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards

Gaon Chart Music Awards is one of the highly-anticipated K-pop award show. As earlier revealed, the show packs quite a few surprises, although the award show will not be holding any live performances this year.

Also known as Gaon Chart K-pop Awards, the Gaon Chart Music Awards highlights K-pop musical artistry's best and all the top albums that charted on Gaon of the previous year. It all started in 2011, and it garnered popularity through its global live coverage of the event through Mnet and Vlive.

Due to its Covid-19 safety measures, this year's Gaon Chart Music Awards did not hold any live performances. As Kwang-ho Choi stated previously, the General Director of Gaon Music Awards, "The awarding ceremony is meaningful even without a splendid performance. I'll show you that an awards ceremony is possible."

The Grateful Red Velvet

The Gain awardee, Red Velvet, who won Artist of the Year - Digital Music for December, thanked her fans, saying that they are grateful to their fans for listening and loving their music. The group revealed that it would come back with various activities to repay their fans' love. "Please look forward to it. We hope you have a great year with Red Velvet in 2021," the group added.

Meanwhile, the major music awards show Gaon Chart Music Awards, which marks its 10th anniversary this year, awards songs, artists, and music industry workers based on Gaon Chart data.
