Actor Song Joong-ki has found himself amidst controversy after becoming a father. His recent interview, which has been made public, has drawn attention due to his comments on 'career interruption' and 'appearance fees.'

An interview Song Joong-ki had with the Chinese entertainment media outlet Sina Entertainment has been released. The interview is said to have taken place when his wife, Kate Louise Saunders, was expecting their child.

In the interview, Song was asked if becoming a father would change him. To this, Song replied, "It's the biggest event of my life. I've always dreamed of becoming a father. I love my dad very much, and all my good qualities come from my father. So, since I was a kid, I've dreamed of becoming a good father like him."

Furthermore, Song shared his thoughts on the saying, 'catching two rabbits - work and family.' He stated, "Becoming a father and a husband can mean losing my job in the entertainment industry. Having a child and getting married may increasingly seem like losing my job."

However, Song emphasized, "It may vary depending on the situation, but I'm not afraid. I don't care. Family is always more important to me than work. I love my work, and I always strive for myself and my family. I can be a good actor, a good person, a good father, a good husband, and to my parents, a good son."

Song's appearance fees, which he disclosed in the interview, also garnered attention. Speaking about his movie 'Hwaran,' he said, "Money wasn't important in this project. I didn't care about money. It's even embarrassing to mention 'no guarantee.' It's not important to me."

He added, "I liked the script. I felt good energy. 'Hwaran' addresses family violence and social underdogs. So, it's worth making. I wanted to participate in this movie. If I had received an appearance fee, a lot of the budget would have gone to my expensive fee. But this movie is not that kind of movie."

Song Joong-ki's appearance fees were previously revealed through a variety show. In 'Freewheeling Doctors,' they mentioned his fees, saying, "During the drama 'Vincenzo,' he made about 200 million KRW per episode, and for the recent 'Youngest Son of a Conglomerate,' he made around 300 million KRW per episode. As his popularity increases, Song's fee is expected to rise further. Over the past two years since 'Vincenzo,' he has earned an estimated 9.2 billion KRW, including advertising revenues."

Following the release of Song's interview, the controversy has not subsided. His comment, 'becoming a father means career interruption,' and acknowledging his high appearance fees have sparked discussions. Some claim that it was reckless to mention his high appearance fee when discussing the movie 'Hwaran,' while others counterargue that he emphasized how great 'Hwaran' is, to the extent of foregoing his appearance fee.
