Song Joong-ki's previous comments about becoming a father have sparked controversy.

Song Joong-ki made these remarks during an interview with Chinese entertainment media outlet Sina Entertainment while he was invited to the Cannes Film Festival. At the time, Sina Entertainment asked, "You're about to have a baby. In China, we say that it's 'double harvest of work and family'. What do you think?"

In response, Song Joong-ki opened up, saying, "In the entertainment industry, becoming a father, becoming a husband, can sometimes mean losing a job. Becoming a father, having a child, marrying a woman, these things are often perceived as leading to job loss in this industry."

Despite acknowledging the possibility, he continued, "It varies depending on the situation," adding, "I'm not afraid. I don't care. For me, family is always much more important than work. But I love my job, and I will work hard for myself and my family."

He further emphasized, "I can be a good actor, and as a father, a husband, and a son, I can also be a good person. I can be both."

Regarding his youthful appearance, Song Joong-ki also said, "I'm not afraid of aging. I appreciate being called 'youthful,' but I'm about to be a father. I don't care about looking youthful, I only care about my child," emphasizing his focus solely on his child.

Song Joong-ki's interview has triggered heated debate online. Critics argue it was inappropriate for him, a male actor, to bring up the issue of career interruption.

Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki remarried British actress Katie Louise Saunders in January and welcomed a son in Rome on the 14th.
