Rap Monster (RM), the leader of global sensation BTS, has recently unveiled his methodology for choosing artists for collaboration. This revelation comes as BTS members are embarking on individual projects and collaborations, a move facilitated by their agency, HYBE, before their mandatory military service break.

In recent times, RM has been broadening his musical horizons, working with a variety of artists on the heels of his debut solo album, Indigo. His collaborations have included projects with Balming Ttiger, Colde, and So!YoON!

In a candid interview with Vogue Korea for their June 2023 edition, RM divulged his evolving approach to selecting collaborators. He admitted that, while he used to adhere to specific standards when picking collaborators, his perspective has shifted over time. Now, he gravitates towards individuals who exhibit self-assuredness and ambition.

"I'm attracted to self-assured individuals who aspire to something greater, those who possess not just the desire, but the talent and ability to carve their own path," RM shared. He further explained that interacting with confident artists inspires him to explore and craft his own narrative.

Despite his successful career, RM expressed surprise at landing a solo cover with Vogue during the interview. He humbly suggested that there are "more pleasant-looking people to look at" than himself, although he hoped he represented Bottega Veneta well in his Vogue photoshoot.

Fans, however, countered his modest statement, taking to Twitter to reassure the BTS frontman of his good looks. One fan implored, "Excuse me?! Have you seen yourself in a mirror, Mr. President?" while another suggested someone should "put the man in front of a mirror and tell him how pretty he is."

As BTS members continue to embark on solo pursuits before reuniting as a group in 2025, RM's insights offer a unique glimpse into his creative process and decision-making. His current focus seems to be on aligning with self-assured, ambitious individuals, suggesting exciting, dynamic collaborations to come.
