Rookie girl group BabyMonster is raising expectations as the 'monster rookie' by becoming the protagonist of a new K-pop record even before their official debut. According to YG Entertainment on May 7th, BabyMonster's official YouTube channel surpassed 2 million subscribers at 3:12 PM on May 6th. This is the shortest record for a K-pop girl group, achieved in just 129 days since the channel's creation on December 28th last year.

This record holds significant symbolism and meaning, considering that BabyMonster has not yet officially debuted and is still considered trainees. The achievement was made solely through pre-debut content such as individual introductions of the seven prospective members, performance videos, live covers, and debut reality shows, rather than album promotions. Thanks to BabyMonster's popularity, the cumulative views of YG's official YouTube channel content have skyrocketed to 400 million.

International media outlets have also begun to focus on BabyMonster. Recently, American music publication Billboard pointed out BabyMonster as a 'K-pop artist to watch' who will create a new wave in the K-pop genre. Global pop star Charlie Puth showed great interest by leaving a comment, "I loved it," on the cover of "Dangerously" by prospective member Ah-hyun.

YG Entertainment explained, "The number of subscribers on YouTube, which leads the global music market, is an indicator of a loyal fandom," and "It is a highlight that allows us to glimpse the expectations of global fans for the rookie BabyMonster."

BabyMonster is YG Entertainment's first rookie girl group in about seven years since BLACKPINK. The prospective members from Korea (Ah-hyun, Ha-ram, and Lo-ra), Thailand (Parita and Chikita), and Japan (Lu-ka and Asa) are all receiving attention as 'all-rounders' with skills in vocals, dance, rap, and visuals even before their debut. The final debut members will be announced at 12:00 AM on May 12th.
