Stars who tread a fine line with their choices and comments are now facing a wave of sharp criticism. Shin Dong-yup's conversations with adult film actors, Park Na-rae's overly sexual jokes, and Kim Min-ah's use of words that evoke sexual embarrassment have all come under fire. These celebrities have faced severe backlash, with petitions calling for their exit from the variety shows they're appearing on.

Recently, posts demanding Shin Dong-yup's departure from SBS's 'Animal Farm' have been pouring in for days on the show's online forum. The petitioners are taking issue with the level of explicit content in Netflix's 'Sex + People: Japan Edition,' hosted by Shin Dong-yup and Sung Si-kyung.

'Sex + People' is a talk variety show that explores the adult entertainment industry and the people involved. Shin Dong-yup and Sung Si-kyung meet with people in the sex-related industry, visiting adult stores and adult VR rooms in Japan, as well as meeting with Japanese adult film actors and directors.

The problem lies in the explicit nature of the conversations that took place during the show. Shin Dong-yup discussed sign language for sexual intercourse, mentioned his hearing-impaired brother, and asked adult film actresses about their income, to which they boasted, "If there's a luxury item we want, we can buy it" and "In terms of annual salary, it's like a Porsche." The actresses didn't hesitate to ask Shin if he had watched their films.

Shin Dong-yup has been known for his risqué jokes on shows like 'Witch Hunt' and 'SNL Korea.' His adult jokes were well-received because they were suggestive rather than explicit, stimulating the imagination. However, 'Sex + People' is different. Adult films are illegal in South Korea, and it's difficult to view them with respect due to their potential association with crimes like sexual exploitation and prostitution. Although the show is on an OTT platform, Shin Dong-yup's appearance on 'Animal Farm,' a show enjoyed by children and women, has made viewers uncomfortable. This is why only Shin, not Sung Si-kyung, is facing demands to leave the show.

Ten Asia attempted to contact Shin Dong-yup's agency, SM C&C, but received no response.

Park Na-rae and Kim Min-ah are also under pressure to leave their shows due to their lack of discretion. Park Na-rae was caught in a sexual harassment controversy after introducing a male doll wearing only underwear on her web variety show 'Hey Na-rae' and describing the male body while changing its clothes. The fact that the channel's main audience is children added to the shock.

Numerous posts demanding her exit flooded the show's online forum and comment sections of various videos. Even her apology couldn't quell the public's anger, and she ultimately faced a police investigation in connection with the sexual harassment controversy.

Kim Min-ah sparked controversy by asking a male middle school student, "How do you release your energy when you have so much?" and "What do you do when you're alone?" Kim Min-ah acknowledged her mistake, stating, "I clearly understand that I tried to make light of my wrongdoing. It was shameful behavior, and I will never repeat it."

While their adult jokes initially brought them fame, it has now become their own undoing. Some argue that it was only a matter of time before such problems would arise. Shin Dong-yup's momentary choice has shaken his 23-year position as an MC on 'Animal Farm.' The criticism surrounding 'Sex + People' is expected to continue for some time. This is indeed a crisis for 'Dong-yup Shin.'

These controversies highlight the importance of setting boundaries and knowing when to draw the line. Entertainers need to be mindful of their actions and the potential consequences, especially in the age of social media where public opinion can quickly turn against them. As the backlash continues, it remains to be seen whether these celebrities will be able to recover from the damage to their reputations and careers.
