Despite its massive popularity in South Korea, K-pop fans are questioning why TWICE is struggling to sell out their upcoming concert in Seoul.

TWICE's Seoul Concert Tickets: 86% Sold - A Sign of Declining Popularity?

On March 13, TWICE announced their fifth world tour, "READY TO BE," taking place from April to July. Among the countries on their tour is South Korea, with a two-day concert scheduled for April 15 and 16 at KSPO Dome in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The venue can accommodate about 14,893 spectators.

The second day of the concert will also be broadcast through the Beyond LIVE platform, allowing more global fans to watch the show. This concert marks TWICE's first appearance at the same venue in a year and four months since their fourth world tour, "III," in December 2021. As a result, many ONCEs (the group's fandom) are expected to attend the event.

However, as of April 12, only 86.1% of the tickets had been sold, raising questions about why TWICE has not sold out their Seoul concert. In the past, the group had sold out their 2019 and 2021 Korean concerts within days of ticket sales opening.

This has led to online speculation that TWICE's popularity in Korea may be declining. Their recent mini-album, "Ready To Be," and its title track, "SET ME FREE," did not perform as well on Korean music charts compared to previous hits, falling behind popular girl groups like IVE and NewJeans.

TWICE Sells Out SoFi Stadium Concert in LA: What's the Issue in Seoul?

However, declining popularity may not be the sole reason for low ticket sales, as TWICE continues to grow its international fan base. On March 24, the group sold out their Los Angeles concert at SoFi Stadium, which has a seating capacity of over 70,000. TWICE made history as the first K-pop girl group to accomplish this feat, selling all tickets well ahead of the June 10 concert date.

So, if TWICE can sell out a 70,000-seat stadium, what's preventing a sellout for a 15,000-seat venue in Seoul?

Recently, international fans have accused Korean ONCEs of planning to boycott the concert. The boycott stems from Korean fans' frustration with the group's lack of promotion in South Korea for their recent album, despite it being a Korean comeback. As a result of the reduced Korean promotions and increased focus on the U.S. market, K-ONCEs have decided not to support TWICE's Seoul concert.
