Hyesung, who is a member of the K-pop band Shinhwa, is in trouble after he was found sleeping in a vehicle that was allegedly stolen. The singer was drunk but refused a breathalyzer test.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the Seoul Songpa Police Station reportedly got information that a car was parked in the middle of a road. The police soon reached the scene and found a man sleeping inside, requesting him to cooperate with a breathalyzer text. However, the man refused, and he was arrested on October 11 at 1:40 AM KST.

The man's identity was revealed as Shinhwa member Hyesung. Furthermore, the police found out that the car that the singer had been drunk driving and had ultimately fallen asleep in was not even his, and that Hyesung had no idea that the car was not the one that he owned. Moreover, the car that he was driving was reported as stolen. The car owner told the police that he did not know Hyesung when asked about the nature of their relationship.

Now it seems all the allegations are not speculations as Shinhwa's agency Liveworks Company has confirmed everything by releasing a statement.

The management company informed that Shin Hyesung had a meeting with acquaintances at a restaurant in the Gangnam district around 11 p.m. on Monday, October 10. After that, the singer, who had consumed alcohol, left for home after obtaining the key to a car from the valet attendant. The singer fell asleep while he had stopped on the road on his way home. When the dispatched police ordered a breath analyzer test, he refused to take it and was arrested.

According to the agency, there is no excuse for Hyesung's behavior of driving under the influence and driving without knowing the vehicle was not his. Liveworks Company apologized about the same and added that they would give more information once they knew the exact situation, ending the note with an apology for causing such concern.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Hyesung had a brush with the law due to drunk driving as he was also previously charged in April 2007 with driving under the influence, following which his driver's license was suspended.

Shinhwa debuted in 1998 as one of the first K-pop boy bands formed by SM Entertainment, emerging as one of the top-rung stars in the Korean music industry in the early 2000s with a series of hit songs, including "Wild Eyes" and "Hey, Come On!".
