After the controversy, the actor withdrew from "1 Night, 2 Days", his variety show, and was dropped from various film projects, which included "2 O'Clock Date".

Now, many of the actor's fans are looking to his future activities with his official return to the entertainment industry.

Rumors have also been rife that he was rushed to a hospital emergency room in the wake of the scandal last year.

Kim has been keeping a low profile in the days and months following the scandal, however, his return has been highly awaited and anticipated. In May 2022, it was announced that the actor would return to the theater. Tickets for "Touching The Void", his comeback play, which opened in Seoul on July 8, and which will run until September 8, are already sold out.
