On December 2, Soo Ae's agency- Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, confirmed that the actress had received a casting offer from the JTBC drama, Gong Jak City.

The confirmation was made by the agency just a day after News1 reported on December 1 that Soo Ae received an offer for a leading role in the upcoming JTBC drama.

Soo Ae's First Lead Drama After Four Years

The last time Soo Ae was seen leading a drama was in 2016 with Sweet Stranger and Me. If the actress will accept the role, it will be her first drama in four years.

Per Granthshala, the JTBC drama Gong Jak City is a psychological mystery thriller. It is about the tangled relationships between characters with various ambitions and desires in a society that hides its dark side. Soo Ae has received the offer of the lead role of Yoon Jae Hee in the drama centering around female characters.

Director Jeon Chang Geun will be helming Gong Jak City. He was known for his unique touch on shows like The Package and Mystic Pop-Up Bar.

A Supposed Second Drama Since Comeback

Previously, Soo Ae has been in talks for the drama "Now, We Are Breaking Up" (literal translation). It was supposed to be her first comeback project to the small screen in four years.

The role offered to her is the leader of a fashion label's design team. However, due to scheduling issues, she was unable to join.

A source from the actress's agency divulged that due to the delay of the drama production caused by COVID-19, Soo Ae got an issue with scheduling. "Therefore, the actress is unable to join the cast," added Studio Santa Claus Entertainment.

Meanwhile, actor Yoo Tae Oh was also reported to be playing a role in the drama. However, it had been said to have turned down the offer as well.
