Apink’s Jung Eun Ji Talks About Their Casting In ‘Reply 1997’ On ‘House On Wheels’

Apink’s Jung Eun Ji and her “Reply 1997” father reunited on tvN’s “House on Wheels” August 13 broadcast.

Sung Dong II expressed his affection for his on-screen daughter before Jung Eun Ji arrived. When he asked her on the phone if she’s more excited to see Kim Hee Won and Yeo Jin Goo, Jung Eun Ji replied that she is more excited to see him.

Right after Jung Eun Ji arrived on the mobile home, she then set up the mobile platform and the awning. When Kim Hee Won protested why Jung Eun Ji is carrying heavy objects, Sung Dong II expressed that she made “Reply 1997” a success through sheer tenacity.

Sung Dong II revealed that the song “Hopefully Sky” was written by Jung Eun Ji while thinking after her father. The revelation came after Yeo Jin Goo said that he enjoyed listening to that song of her. Jung Eun Ji added that she held an online concert a few days ago for the first time.

Since her dad is working abroad, Jung Eun Ji did not expect that he will be watching her online concert because she knew that he’s been busy with work, but she was overwhelmed after seeing her dad as one of the viewers. “It felt extraordinary,” she said.

Furthermore, on their way to buy ingredients for their dinner, Sung Dong II reflected on his first meeting with Jung Eun Ji when it was on their casting in “Reply 1997,” when she was 20 years old.

Sung Dung II then asked Jung Eun Ji if what was PD Shin Won Ho’s reason for casting her because she has no acting experience during that time. He then called Shin Wo Hon immediately, and the director explained that one of their producers asked her to visit for an audition, and they told him that they had found someone who can speak the dialect.

The director revealed that he had doubts if Jung Eun Ji can act, but upon hearing that she was already on her way, he decided to meet her. During the audition, she did very well, and he deliberated for a couple of months, and the only auditionee who had that rough, real dialect feel was Eun Ji. And rather than getting someone familiar without charm, he thought that it would be better to have a charming newcomer.

Jung Eun Ji cooked soybean paste stew later for dinner while Sung Dong II brought out the stripe that Jung Eun Ji said she likes.
