Amid plans for strong legal action against fake news by popular girl group IVE (comprising members An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo), and their agency Starship Entertainment, the dispute with 'Taldok Sooyongso' is expected to intensify as the latter disputes the court's decision.

Starship Entertainment, on January 17, mentioned Jang Wonyoung's civil lawsuit against 'Taldok Sooyongso', stating that Wonyoung won the lawsuit as 'Taldok Sooyongso' did not respond, leading to a default judgment in her favor.

Wonyoung filed a lawsuit in October 2023 against Mr. A, the operator of 'Taldok Sooyongso', demanding compensation of 100 million won. The lawsuit was filed in October 2023, and the court requested a response from the defendant, which was not provided, leading to a default judgment.

However, on January 17, Mr. A, through his legal representative, filed an appeal against the judgment, indicating his refusal to acknowledge the charges. This move shifts the case to an appellate court after Mr. A maintained silence in response to the lawsuit and Wonyoung's legal actions.

'Taldok Sooyongso', known for indiscriminately spreading false facts and malicious rumors about numerous K-pop artists and attracting criticism from fans, had specifically targeted Jang Wonyoung among others with severe fake news. In July 2023, Starship Entertainment began strong legal action against 'Taldok Sooyongso'.

Starship Entertainment stated, "We have been pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against 'Taldok Sooyongso' since November 2022, both domestically and internationally, for continuously spreading false information, causing severe defamation, disrupting our operations, and causing serious distress to our artists and fans. We are committed to holding 'Taldok Sooyongso' criminally and civilly accountable through ongoing lawsuits."

'Taldok Sooyongso' has been notorious for spreading baseless facts and malicious rumors about popular celebrities. The channel, infamous for its cyberbullying, used celebrities as scapegoats to increase viewership by cleverly editing and spreading false information, causing significant confusion. In September 2023, major music organizations called for strict punishment against malicious content creators, including 'Taldok Sooyongso'.

Following this, in May 2023, Starship Entertainment obtained a court order from the US District Court for the Northern District of California to provide information. This month, they received significant information about 'Taldok Sooyongso's operator from Google's headquarters in the USA. With Google's cooperation, Starship Entertainment strongly expressed its intention to legally pursue 'Taldok Sooyongso' and initially won a lawsuit.

The legal battle for Jang Wonyoung and Starship Entertainment is not expected to end here.

According to Star News, the Seoul Central District Court's 50th civil division is scheduled to hold a hearing on January 24 for the 100 million won damage lawsuit filed by Starship Entertainment against the operator of the YouTube channel 'Taldok Sooyongso'.
