Check Out Why These Bands Disbanded This Year

By 2020, some fantastic rookies have debuted, from CRAVITY to Weeekly. It's also seen the dissolution of many groups disbanding this year, though. All these five K-Pop bands split up this year, and this is what forced them to dissolve. (via Koreaboo)

X1

Without the need for doubt, the dissolution of X1 was among the most controversial in K-Pop, and it started with a controversy of voting exploitation. Korean police reported in September 2019 that Mnet's Produce X 101 outcomes had been compromised.

Initially, reports suspected that the vote totals for two or three of the winning participants were swapped to those who were eventually removed from the program. Investigative reporters later reported that 8 of the 11 participants had their places compromised. Finally, on January 6, individual companies of participants, unfortunately, put out a statement saying they could not establish an agreement to keep the group alive.

As an outcome, X1 was forced to disband just four months after their debut in the K-pop scene.

YELLOW BEE

The girl band Yellow Bee made its first appearance in 2017 under Addiction Entertainment. The managing label revealed it would dissolve Yellow Bee in May 2020—but the explanation behind it made everyone astounded. Addiction Entertainment told fans in their official statement on Instagram that Yellow Bee was going to be disbanded because an anonymous member (called "B") was living her life as what they labeled as a "rather slutty way of living."

The statement claimed that when the dissolution ruling came, the group was already planning its third digital single release and that Addiction Entertainment had also considered the option of swapping all five members out for new people. Eventually, though, they concluded the party "can not stay intact."

Netizens were understandably surprised to see the organization slut-shaming one of its representatives, labeling their statement disrespectful and uncaring. That being said, former member Ari later released her response informing fans and people on social media that the agency staffs were the only ones guilty of sexual activity.

She stated that the members were sexually molested by multiple staff members and behaved inappropriately, traumatically. In addition to that, Ari said the agency didn't pay for any of the band's needs. The members forced to pay for everything from video processing to clothing to plane tickets alone, and once they had to handle their whole event without any staff in Japan.

SPECTRUM

Another band enduring the same misfortune as the groups mentioned earlier had been the SPECTRUM of Wynn Entertainment. This boy band started its journey in May 2018, disbanding in July 2020.

SPECTRUM 's managing label said in their message to fans that the COVID-19 pandemic had exacerbated the situation at Wynn Entertainment, among several other reasons. As an effect, all Six members were compelled to end their contractual agreements. But this was not SPECTRUM's first catastrophe. Member Dongyoon passed away suddenly in July 2018 at the age of just 20.
