Song Joong Ki transforms into a pilot of the space junk-collector ship, The Victory, named Tae Ho in the recent new stills of the upcoming film "Space Sweepers."

Per Soompi, "Space Sweepers" follows The Victory's crew's story in the year 2092. When the team discovered a humanoid robot Dorothy, a known weapon of mass destruction, they entered into a risky business deal.

Aside from Song Joong Ki, the star-studded cast includes Kim Tae Ri, Yoo Hae Jin, and Jin Seon Kyu.

"Space Sweepers" is set to be Song Joong Ki's first film in three years and will be playing the character of Tae Ho. Tae Ho formerly worked as a member of the UTS squad and ended up being a pilot of The Victory after a mission took everything away from him.

Tae Ho became determined to do anything to get money after hitting rock bottom. With no shoes and holes in his socks, he piloted a ship, and even after discovering Dorothy, all that is on his mind is to use his wit to get more money for himself.

Song Joong Ki expressed that when he first read the script, he told himself that he wants to play the character of Tae Ho, who isn't flashy and doesn't hide anything. "I wanted to take the role of Tae Ho because he has a bright personality.

Joong Ki continued saying that though Tae Ho looks cold outside, he is a warm person. And though he appears to be lacking, he still is a genius who uses his intelligence to get the most of every situation.

The director of "Space Sweepers," Jo Sung-Hee, revealed his deep satisfaction with Song Jong Ki. He expressed that Song Jong Ki as an actor, fills the empty spaces in his character with creativity and details. "He is perfectly portraying who Tae Ho is."

"Space Sweepers" will hit the big screen on September 23.
