Action movie “Deliver Us from Evil” breached 2 million moviegoers at the box office just one day after surpassing 1 million marks!

The Korean Film Council on August 9 announced that at 9:20 PM, KST, the new movie “Deliver Us From Evil,” had officially surpassed 2 million moviegoers. It was on August 5 when the film was released, which means it took five days to hit the milestone. The film now holds the record in South Korea as the fastest movie to reach 2 million this summer.

With “Deliver Us From Evil’s” success, it has smashed the record of the famous “Train To Busan” sequel, “Peninsula,” which became Korea’s first film to hit 2 million marks since South Korea raised its COVID-19 threat alert level in February to “severe.” The zombie movie “Peninsula,” took seven days to hit the two million mark.

Despite the harsh world phenomenon, it can be noted that the movie “Deliver Us From Evil” was able to manage to break past 2 million at the same speed with this year’s biggest box office hit, “The Man Standing Next.” The movie was released in January that garnered 4.75 million moviegoers on its run.

To celebrate the success of the movie, the cast Lee Jung Jae and Park Jung Min hold a handwritten message of gratitude as they posed for a photo. Lee Jung’s letter says that he thanks the 2 million people who watched “Deliver Us From Evil,” at the same time, Park Jun Min writes, “Deliver Us From Evil’ hit 2 million! Thank you for loving our movie and for showing your support. Please remain healthy and safe this summer and humid time.”

Fans of the movie congratulated the cast and the team behind the success of the intense and nerve-wracking “Deliver Us From Evil” in several social media posts.
