Jungkook of the globally renowned group BTS has recently disclosed his ambitious plans to become a "giant pop star" as he ventures into his solo career.

In an interview with Weverse Magazine, published on July 20, Jungkook admitted, "There is no specific direction where I am heading as an artist," and "I have no fixed concept for what I will show next." However, he then added his ambitious aim.

Jungkook is currently enjoying massive global popularity with his solo debut track 'Seven', released on the 14th. The track is set to make a strong entrance on both the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100' and the US Billboard Singles Chart 'Hot 100'.

When asked if he already considers himself a "giant pop star", Jungkook humbly responded, "I do not think so." He then pointed out his ambitions to become such a figure as the reason behind his dedication to his career. He desires 'to be recognized more', 'to do better', and 'to become a pop star once'.

"I hope that there will come a day when I can acknowledge myself when looking at myself from a third-person's perspective," he added. "The figure that I would be then, is that of a pop star."

Reflecting on his much-discussed performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening ceremony, he said, "The World Cup was also an opportunity for me. When the offer came, I thought, 'There is no reason to turn this down,'" However, he admitted, "There are regrets about the stage. People loved it, but I thought, 'What if I had done better?'"

Jungkook also opened up about the creation of 'Seven', his debut single.

"'Seven' was not planned in advance," said Jungkook. "When PD Bang Si-hyuk (Chairman of HYBE) played the song for me, I loved it so much that I said, 'Oh, I have to do this no matter what.' As I decided to do 'Seven', I figured out how to plan my future activities," he explained the genesis of the song's release.

He also added, "I changed the way I record. Every time I recorded a song, I would sing it all at once, and it was a big help."

Despite appearing to do things at his own pace and appearing simple, Jungkook revealed a serious side, "I have my own thoughts."

Regarding his donation of 1 billion won to Seoul National University Children's Hospital this past April, he said, "My heart went out to the children," and "I thought it would be good if I focused on the children's hospital and the facilities were built. After doing it, I felt really good."

Meanwhile, during an appearance on the American radio program 'Elvis Duran Show' on the 19th (local time), Jungkook said, "There are still many music genres and styles that I haven't tried, so I want to continue singing, dancing, and being on stage."
