Acting couple Choo Ja-hyun and Yu Xiaoguang have appeared on the SBS reality show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny', using the platform to clarify rumors of marital infidelity. This has stirred a diversity of viewer responses.

On the episode of 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2' broadcasted the afternoon of July 17, Choo Ja-hyun and Yu Xiaoguang directly confronted rumors of an extramarital affair.

Choo Ja-hyun began, "Regrettably, there was a disconcerting incident around the year before last. My careless actions disappointed many people." She explained, "We often video call. When meeting friends, we always do. I am familiar with all the members there. They are our neighbors." She continued, "A misleading video was shot in the fleeting moment when many of us piled into a car as Yu was heading home."

Choo added, "I am also close to the woman involved in the rumors. At that time, she briefly sat on my lap while getting into the car and texting on her phone. Then the car started. If the car hadn't started, it would have obviously seemed like she was just passing by."

Yu Xiaoguang added, "The video was maliciously edited. I wanted to clarify, but it seemed like people wouldn't want to believe it. People wanted to believe the negative image." He continued, "I believed that time would prove everything. The strongest feeling I had at the time was the feeling of regret for my wife."

In July 2021, a Chinese media outlet reported that Yu Xiaoguang was seen with a woman on his lap in a car after a late-night social gathering. Prior to this, in October 2016, he had made headlines in China when a paparazzo photographed him holding hands with an intoxicated woman.

Yu explained the 2016 incident as, "She is a close friend and college classmate of 12 years. I was dining with her and other friends after a long time. Holding hands was a symbol of our friendship." Later, for the 2021 rumor, his agency said, "It was a mishap on the way home after a gathering with friends." They added, "Even if they are close friends, we will be careful not to act in a way that can be misunderstood."

Viewer reactions to Choo Ja-hyun and Yu Xiaoguang's appearance on the reality show are divided. Some say it was a 'wise choice to actively respond to suspicions,' while others argue 'I do not want to see Yu Xiaoguang, who has been involved in infidelity rumors twice, on a couple's reality show.' 'It's a show about couples. Is this not an attempt to wash away their past?' were also comments shared.

Prior to the rumors, Yu Xiaoguang was well-loved for his romantic image, even in South Korea. Will he be able to restore his image through 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2'? In the first week of the show, he presented himself as a loving father putting effort into childcare and a romantic husband holding his wife's hand even in the car.
