YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as YG) has made an official statement regarding rumors of the failure to renew the contract with BLACKPINK member Lisa.

On July 12th, YG told Newsen, "It's due to tour and personal schedules, and has nothing to do with the contract. The renewal is currently under discussion."

Previously, Munhwa Ilbo reported that the recent schedule coordination between YG and Lisa's Chinese agency had failed, suggesting the renewal of Lisa's contract with YG was uncertain. It was also reported that the remaining members Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo were heading towards renewing their contracts with YG.

Lisa, originally from Thailand, debuted as a member of YG's BLACKPINK in August 2016. She became an official trainee through the YG Overseas Auditions in 2010 and has since played a crucial role in the team as the lead rapper and main dancer. Over the past seven years, she contributed to the success of hits such as 'Whistle', 'BOOMBAYAH', 'Playing with Fire', 'STAY', 'As If It's Your Last', 'DDU-DU DDU-DU', 'Kill This Love', 'How You Like That', 'Lovesick Girls', and 'Pink Venom'.

Apart from her group activities, Lisa also embarked on a solo career. She officially debuted as a solo artist with her first single 'LALISA' in September 2021.

As the BLACKPINK members are facing contract expiration with YG, K-pop fans are focused on what decisions they will make regarding their future.
