Rapper Bassagong (real name Kim Jin-woo), who received a one-year prison sentence in the first trial for charges of illegal filming, argued that the penalty was too severe during his appeal trial.

The Criminal Appeals Division 1 of the Seoul Western District Court (Presiding Judge Woo In-sung) held the first trial of Bassagong's appeal for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (illegal filming and distribution using cameras, etc.) on the 8th afternoon.

During the trial, with victim A in attendance, Bassagong's side claimed, "There are specific areas where the basic factual relationship differs." Arguing that there was a misunderstanding in the application of law in determining the sentence, they said, "The punishment is too severe."

According to the reason for Bassagong's appeal revealed through A's social media, Bassagong claimed, "There was a conflict between the third party, singer Lee Ha-neul, who was the representative of the defendant's (Bassagong's) agency, and the victim. Because of this, the defendant has difficulty in reaching an agreement."

In response to mentioning Lee Ha-neul, A pointed out, "He only blames others till the end. Bassagong has no loyalty or style. There is certainly a conflict with Lee Ha-neul and his girlfriend, but don't you know that all of this started because of you, who secretly filmed and distributed? You're saying it's difficult to agree because of a third party, not the defendant. Is this a reason for appeal?" Following this, A's side declared that they have no intention to negotiate any further after seeing the appeal reasons.

On another note, Bassagong was indicted on charges of illegally filming the body of victim A, whom he was dating in 2018, and distributing the photos in a group chat. Afterward, when B-Free made remarks as if mentioning himself through YouTube entertainment, A publicly demanded an apology by exposing this, and Bassagong turned himself in after posting an apology.

Subsequently, in the sentencing hearing held in April, the Criminal 6th Solo of the Seoul Western District Court (Judge Kim Yu-mi) sentenced Bassagong to one year in prison. In addition, they ordered 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program and an employment restriction order at child, adolescent, and disabled welfare facilities for three years.

Both Bassagong and the prosecution filed appeals. The second trial of Bassagong's appeal will be held on July 4.
