The South Korean police have applied for arrest warrants against the singer Nam Tae-hyun and influencer Seo Min-jae, who are under investigation for alleged drug use.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on May 17th that they have requested arrest warrants for Nam and others under suspicion of violating the Drug Control Act on May 15th. The prosecution requested these warrants to the court on the previous day, and a pretrial detention hearing (warrant review) for the two will be held at the Seoul Western District Court on the morning of the 18th.

Nam and Seo are accused of using drugs around August of last year. Seo had posted a message on his social network service (SNS) around August last year, stating, "Nam Tae-hyun did Philopon (methamphetamine). And there's a used syringe in my room or company cabinet." The investigation began when netizens who saw this post reported it to the police.

The police summoned the two in September last year and collected hair samples, which were then submitted to the National Forensic Service for analysis.

Nam was also handed over to the prosecution last month on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act by driving under the influence. The results of a police breathalyzer test at the time showed Nam's blood alcohol concentration was 0.114%, exceeding the license revocation level of 0.08%.
