BTS J-Hope has been nominated for an award at a ceremony celebrating children's rights, as voted on by children themselves.

The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation announced on May 3 that they will be holding the '3rd Annual Korea Children's Awards' in honor of the 101st Children's Day.

The 'Korea Children's Awards' is a ceremony in which children directly select the individuals and organizations that have contributed to the promotion of children's rights. From candidate recommendations to voting and awarding, children participate in every step of the process. The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation selected the 80 first-round candidates in 8 categories with the participation of 500 child and adolescent reporters and panels from all over the country during March. Subsequently, 140 foundation child advocacy committee members, acting as national child judges, voted to determine the 31 final candidates in 8 categories (Children, Adults, Good Companies, Stars, Writers, Videos, Legislation, Research).

Among them, J-Hope has been nominated as a finalist in the 'Star' category.

The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation highlighted J-Hope's "major achievements," which include "participating in emergency relief donations for children affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, providing scholarships for low-income students at his alma mater, and donating to Tanzanian child abuse prevention projects, contributing more than 800 million won for children in total. J-Hope has been encouraging the global fandom 'ARMY' to participate in donation activities through his positive influence as a global star."

In a 'Child Recommendation Letter' for J-Hope, it was written: "As a global artist, he is leading the way in helping marginalized children and people with disabilities around the world, exercising his positive influence. During the dark times before BTS became famous, his pursuit of dreams and achievements became my role model. I was moved by his warm heart and consistent donation practices, as well as his amazing performances on stage."

Voting is open to children under 19 years of age and will take place throughout May via the official online voting booth on the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation website. On-site voting will also be held at 14 polling stations in 9 regions across the country. For children who cannot visit polling stations, a 'traveling polling station' using voting vehicles will also be in operation.

Due to the rainy weather forecast on Children's Day, May 5th, changes in some on-site voting locations and schedules have been announced on the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation's official SNS account.

J-Hope is currently serving in the military, having enlisted on April 18th at the Army's 36th Division New Soldier Training Center in Wonju, Gangwon Province. His expected discharge date is October 17th, 2024.
