Global supergroup BTS member Suga (30·Min Yoongi) has achieved a record-tying performance for a K-pop solo artist on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, 'Billboard 200,' with his first solo album, 'D-DAY.'

According to a chart preview article posted on Billboard's website on May 1 (EDT), Suga, performing under the solo name Agust D, debuted at No. 2 on the 'Billboard 200' with 'D-DAY,' released on April 21st, selling an equivalent of 140,000 units. This is the same achievement as BTS teammate Jimin, who reached No. 2 on the 'Billboard 200' with his first solo album 'FACE' on April 8th.

Suga and Jimin are the highest-ranked K-pop solo artists, with BTS and five other K-pop teams having topped the chart. The previous highest-ranked K-pop solo artist on the chart was their teammate RM, who ranked third with 'Indigo.' Three BTS members have now recorded top 10 positions on the 'Billboard 200.'

Twice member Nayeon's first solo mini-album, 'IM NAYEON,' follows at No. 7. Suga previously charted at No. 11 with his mixtape 'D-2' released in 2020. Over the years, BTS members have entered the 'Billboard 200' multiple times as solo artists. RM reached No. 26 with 'mono.' released in October 2018. J-Hope's first solo album 'Jack In The Box' and mixtape 'Hope World' ranked No. 17 and No. 38, respectively.

Several K-pop groups, including SuperM, Blackpink, and Twice, have also ranked No. 2 on the 'Billboard 200' as a group. Among them, SuperM and Blackpink have had No. 1 albums. BTS has topped the chart with six albums as a group.

The 'Billboard 200' rankings are determined by combining traditional album sales scores with SEA (streaming equivalent albums) and TEA (track equivalent albums), which convert streaming counts and digital track downloads into album sales, respectively. 'D-DAY' recorded 125,000 SEA units and 5,500 TEA units.

Meanwhile, American country star Morgan Wallen's album 'One Thing At A Time' topped the 'Billboard 200' again this week, with a sales equivalent of 149,000 units, only a 9,000-unit difference from Suga's 'D-DAY.' 'One Thing At A Time' has been No. 1 for eight consecutive weeks.
