The annual Met Gala, also called Met Ball, was hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute on Monday, May 3. The theme for this year was In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which focused on gilded glamour.

Quite a few Korean celebrities were seen on the red carpet dressed in their interpretation of the theme.

NCT's Johnny

The K-pop idol made his Met Gala debut this year. He is now the fifth male K-pop idol to join the illustrious list of attendees at the annual star-studded event.

The star's look was designed by Peter Do, an alum of FIT and an LVMH Graduates Prize winner. The outfit consisted of a really long black tailcoat of satin with silver detailing, which was paired with a matching suit and combat boots.

Johnny also had a field day at the event and seemed to have befriended a bevy of international celebrities, as was evident from all his social media photos and posts. He put up an enviable list of pictures with Gigi Hadid, Jung Ho Yeon, and Anderson .Paak. He was also seen interacting with Kris Jenner and sat at the same table as Kylie Jenner.

However, earlier in the day, while leaving the hotel for the venue Johnny faced racist behavior from a paparazzi cameraman who muttered that the singer did not understand a word he was saying. The camera guy had automatically assumed that since Johnny was Asian he did not understand English. In fact, Johnny was born in Chicago!

Jung Ho Yeon

"Squid Game" and Korean model Jung Ho Yeon was dressed to kill on the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala with her squad cut-out mini dress, which was from the Cruise 2017 collection of Louis Vuitton. According to Vogue, late 1800s oil painting inspired the look.

Ashley Park

Korean-American actress Ashley Park, known best for her work in "Emily in Paris" flaunted a Prabal Gurung hot-pink corset and ostrich-feather skirt with jewelry inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

Awkwafina

Chinese-Korean-American rapper and actress Awkwafina chose to wear a custom Gucci gown.

Anderson .Paak

Anderson .Paak, who is a Korean-American singer-songwriter and one half of Silk Sonic, was attired in a floral jacquard jacket with all-over sequins by Gucci, which was paired with a dress shirt, tie, leather flared pants, boots, and a wig.

Chloe Kim

The Korean-American Olympic Gold Medalist Chloe looked gorgeous in her couture ball gown from Giambattista Valli Couture ball gown, which featured red feathers.
