With Interscope Records, Somi is about to leap into the American music industry!

Black Label shared the official news on July 21 that K-pop idol Somi has entered a contractual agreement with Interscope Records, a universal music group agency. (via Soompi)

"Somi stands out for her exclusive and world-class approach and exposure to pop culture. She is ready to become the next global musician, and this is yet another brilliant addition to our persisting prospering relationship with Teddy Park, Black Label, and the Y.G. family," said Sam Riback the Executive Vice President of Interscope and Head of A&R.

In Somi's official statement with Variety, she said she's very eager and excited to join the Interscope and Universal Music label. They have a fantastic and talented roster of successful artists. She went on to say that she's looking forward to the possible prosperity of her career and can't wait to share her music in the world.

Interscope Records houses numerous renowned music artists such as BLACKPINK, Lady Gaga, Eminem. Maroon 5, Kendrick Lamar, U2, Madonna, The Black Eyed Peas, Lana Del Rey, Dr. Dre, Selena Gomez, and more!

About Somi

Somi is a Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer that is currently residing in South Korea. She is known for winning in Mnet's survival competition show Produce 101, where she lands the first place title. She debuted with now-disbanded Korean girl group I.O.I.

She started her career and embarked on a solo journey to the big world of the Korean Music Industry on June 13, 2019, with her single track, 'Birthday.'

In 2019, Somi was featured as part of the cast for the T.V. show "Law Of The Jungle in Chuuk," she also accepted an emcee role earlier this year for MBC's "Lose If You're Envious."
