The collaboration of BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez continue to achieve milestones, this time, on Youtube.

Ice Cream music video steps up another level in view figures

BLACKPINK's Ice Cream wowed the BLINKS when it collected another gem on Youtube. As expected, the music video reaches 450 million views on the day after Christmas, December 26 (Saturday), according to Kpophit.

Moreover, at around 6:30 AM, following South Korea's time zone, the music video hit the 450-million-view mark. The summery video, as reflected in the title, features the Disney alum and American singer Selena.

With that said, the femme fatale and BLACKPINK only took about three months, 27 days, and 17 hours to collect the Youtube gem. It was uploaded on BLACKPINK's Youtube channel on August 28 at precisely 1 PM KST.

Soompi reported that Ice Cream is the eighth music video of the band that achieved massive viewing numbers on the platform. The music video titles are Whistle, Playing With Fire, BOOMBAYAH, As If It's Your Last, DDU-DU DDU-DU, Kill This Love, and How You Like That.

Dissecting the music video

The inspiring music video for Ice Cream held Seo Hyun-seong responsible for the mesmerizing concept. The director is a frequent collaborator with BLACKPINK, who already worked with the group's chart-topping music videos in the past.

As mentioned above, the music video was released on August 28, garnering a whopping 79.08 million views in its first 24 hours. That said, Ice Cream was hailed as the third biggest 24-hour debut for a music video on the streaming platform.

The scenes of Jennie, Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo were shot in South Korea, while Selena Gomez's scenes were filmed in the United States. The collaborators were not given a chance to be in one setup due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19.

An animated performance video also made its way to Youtube on September 2. It showcases the K-pop quartet and Selena as 3-D ZEPETO avatars, wearing outfits similar to what they wore in the original music video.
