Chosun University has officially released its final verdict on Hong Jin Young's master's thesis plagiarism.

On December 24, Thursday, Soompi reported that a representative from the Chosun University Graduate School Committee had informed Maeil Business Newspaper regarding their final verdict on Hong Jin Young's thesis plagiarism.

The representative said, "We had made a final judgment of plagiarism regarding Hong Jin Young's thesis, and therefore we will begin taking administrative action for degree cancelation."

The committee pledged to thoroughly review submitted theses to avoid such a controversy in the future. The Chosun University's chancellor decided to revoke Hong Jin Young's master's and doctoral degrees.

Recent reports of Hong Jin Young's 200 master's thesis sparked in November after her whole paper scored 74 percent plagiarized from a site named Copy Killer. This issue was immediately debunked by Hong Jin Young's managing label and said the whole paper includes citations and references, which adds to the plagiarism percentage.

Moreover, Hong Jin Young released an official statement to clear her name from the plagiarism issue, insisting she did her best and consulted her work with a professor to finish her thesis. However, Hong Jin Young then came up with a decision to give up her master's and doctoral degrees.

Earlier this month, the Research Integrity Committee from Chosun University Ethics Committee acknowledged the issue and gave Hong Jin Young until December 18 to explain her side for them to give their final verdict on the plagiarism issue.

On December 18, Hong Jin Young officially put up an apology letter to the public, which states her admission of guilt to the issue and would take the time to reflect on her mistake. Fans have mixed reactions to the issue, but most are disappointed in her actions, defending herself all this time when, in fact, Hong Jin Young is guilty of the plagiarism issue.
