Recalling her days when she was a trainee, Hyerim discussed her passion for dancing and singing even at such a young age. Having known for being enthusiastic with her artistic side, Hyerim admitted that she often sings and dances than spending time studying and always wished to be part of a girl group.

Furthermore, to fulfill her dream to be a K-pop artist, Hyerim took the chance to try her luck by auditioning with JYP Entertainment when she found out that the agency was conducting an open audition in Hong Kong. With a burning desire, Hyerim fled to Hong Kong, leaving her family behind in South Korea to audition and to become a singer.

Despite being a successful artist, Hyerim confessed that the roads she went through back in her trainee days were not always a happy moment. She also shared that her first day as a trainee was the most unforgettable moment of her life.

Moreover, Hyerim made a shocking but hilarious revelation upon her recollection of her trainee days' first day. Hyerim was shocked to find out that there were other pretty girls with overwhelming talent than her, making her cry on that day.

Hyerim further detailed that she met TWICE's Jihyo at the time, who possesses exceptional beauty, and how her beauty and talent hit her self-esteem. 'I met TWICE's Jihyo there and her yeyes were so much bigger than mine. She was so pretty and talented, I lost all my confidence and I felt like a small fish in a big ocean.'

Even though Hyerim has many competitive peers back in her trainee days with JYP Entertainment, the now-married singer proved herself to be a worthy K-pop idol for becoming part of a legendary K-pop girl group, Wonder Girls.
