The Korean pop idol boy groups BTS, EXO, and NCT 127 joined the nominees' circle for the 2020 American Music Awards (AMAs).

This year's event will be held live on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. EST at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Along with Billie Ellish and Ariana Grande, the three K-pop groups are vying for the Favorite Social Artist award.

Battling against familiar faces

The nomination this year is the third consecutive time of BTS in the category. The group won the award in 2018 and the same in 2019 with Tour of the Year and Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock awards. Meanwhile, this is the second time nomination for EXO and the first for NCT 127.

Once again, BTS and the Jonas Brothers face off for the Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock award. They will also be competing with Maroon 5.

It can be recalled last October 14 that the three: BTS, Jonas Brothers, and Maroon 5 also vied at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) for Top Duo/Group. The BTS' ARMY seems not to give Jonas Brothers a chance once more in achieving the award the same as in the 2019 AMA's.

The fate of the artists to receive the awards are in the hands of the fans

The fans' votes will determine the winners of the American Music Awards. Also, another determinant for the awards the critical fan interactions, as reflected on the Billboard charts. This includes streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, and social activity.

Billboard will be tracking these data together with its data partners MRC Data and Next Big Sound. The computation of the score is from Sept. 27, 2019, through Sept. 24, 2020.

The voting period starts from Oct. 26 to Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. ET. and fans can vote via the Billboard website or on Twitter.

For voting on the Billboard website, fans can visit billboard.com/amasvote and use their Facebook or Twitter accounts.
