The winners of the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards have been named! The ceremony, also known as the Critics Choice Awards, is South Korea's annual awards ceremony for excellence in film. The ceremony is usually held in November or December, and it is established in 1980 by the Korean Association of Film Critics (KAFC).

The Categories

This year, there are several categories for which awards are presented at the event. The categories include Best Film, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best New Director, Best New Actor, and Best New Actress.

Also, the awarding body chooses the Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, and Best Music. Furthermore, the Technica Award is given to achieve visual effects, editing, art direction, lighting, or costume design.

CJ CGV Star Award, Special Achievement Award, Special Mention, FIPRESCI Award (International Federation of Film Critics, Korean branch), Best New Critic, Best Foreign Film, and Award for Contribution to Cinema were also given during the awarding.

The Outstanding Achievers

The 2019 Best Film Awardee was the movie Parasite, which was directed by Bong Joon Ho. Son of Man, directed by Yu Hyun Mok in 1980, has been recorded as the first-ever winner of the Best Film Award.

Now, director Woo Min Ho's The Man Standing Next grabbed this year's Best Film award. It's starring actor Lee Byung Hun also won the Best Actor award.

The Best Actress award was taken by Jung Yu Mi of Kim Ji-Young, Born in 1982. Meanwhile, the Best Supporting Actress award went to Kim Mi Kyung of the same movie. Recently, Jung Yu Mi also bagged the Best Actress award in the 2020 Buil Film Awards for her role in the film.

Despite the awardees' early announcement, the 40th Korean Association Of Film Critics Awards' physical ceremony will be held on November 11, 2020, at 6:30 PM KST. It will be hosted by actors Kim Ha Na and Choi Jung Won.
