The success of BLACKPINK’s newest single “Lovesick Girls” has reached worldwide, promoting beauty and women’s independence from heartbreak. However, the Health and Medical Worker’s Union of Korea has criticized the MV for objectifying nurses.

In the “Lovesick Girls” music video, there is a scene where BLACKPINK’s Jennie is portraying a nurse. The Health and Medical Worker’s Union of Korea believes that the nurse’s representation from the MV is detrimental to those who work from the field.

In response to this backlash, YG Entertainment stated that the company would delete all the nurse scenes from the "Lovesick Girls" MV and replace it with an edited version as soon as possible.

BLACKPINK's record label added that they have prepared an immense effort in editing the music video and did not expect such controversy to happen as they did not have any intentions in doing so.

YG Entertainment also apologized to the nurses who got offended and felt uncomfortable in this situation. The label previously stated that there was no hidden intention behind it, but worried about its perception.

BLACKPINK’s label company plead the viewers to about their music videos, to look at an artist’s eyes and understand that each of the scenes is representations of the song’s lyrics. The company added that its producers are in talks about editing the said nurse scene with Jennie.

BLINKs Defends Jennie

Meanwhile, BLINKs took to Twitter and defended Jennie on discussing the nurse outfit on the "Lovesick Girls" music video with the hashtag #YGDontDeleteTheScene, as the fans did not see any violation nor did the company did anything wrong with the scene.

A fan wrote on the social media outlet, explaining what Jennie was wearing was a psychiatric nurse uniform and does not know the problem because that was supposed to resemble. The netizen added that the BLACKPINK member did not show any cleavage or much skin.

Besides that, a nurse, who is also a BLACKPINK fan, wrote on Twitter that Jennie's nurse outfit on "Lovesick Girls" are the same and the only difference is a bun.

In contrast, another fan wrote that they defended Jennie because her scene is not against the nurses and represents the lyrics of the song in a nonsexual way.
