SBS has officially agreed not to stage the 2020 Gayo Daejeon yearly music festival.

SBS itself has initially revealed the decision to idol group managers that they will not be conducting the famous Gayo Daejeon Music Festival this year according to an exclusive source from Ilgan Sports.

The decision was made due to several television networks addressing their preparations for their celebrations at the end of each year. Alternatively, SBS has agreed to extend its music event Super ON: TACT 2020, to compensate for the loss of the year-end music events.

It is also speculated that throughout the warm-up rehearsal for Gayo Daejeon last year, SBS wanted to pause the case following the most heated accident of Red Velvet's Wendy. An annual musical festival took place without issue for the major three media networks, SBS' Gayo Daejeon, MBC's Gayo Daejeon, and KBS's Gayo Daejeon.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all events in the latter part of the year are likely to be shortened. Sequences, including the closing song, will not be doable for all involved musicians.

KBS and MBC extensively explain how their year-end celebrations are to be differentiated from a basic music program. "SBS has not acknowledged it or refuted it in reaction to the news, merely saying that no conclusion has yet been made. "We are yet to determine if the Gayo Daejeon will be held this year." — SBS.
