Red Velvet’ Joy proves she is SM Entertainment’s hidden “digital monster” as she continues to top the music charts without any promotions or an official solo debut.

Joy trended in Korea when she released the second OST for the drama series ‘Hospital Playlist’ on March 20, 2020. The OST ‘Introduce Me a Good Person’ she recorded was a remake of the song released by Basis in 1996.

Since the release 3 months ago, Joy has been steadily rising in the charts with her song cover. As of the moment, Joy’s solo OST has remained in the Top 10 of Melon’s Weekly Chart. Melon is the largest music platform in South Korea.

Out of all the members in Red Velvet, Joy is the only one left without a solo debut and yet she has been topping even in the SM Digital on Gaon Chart for several weeks now, contributing a lot to SM’s digital sales without any promotions from the agency itself.

Currently, Joy is the most followed Red Velvet member on Melon, surpassing even some of the popular soloists. She is reportedly close to being eligible for a Bonsang at the upcoming 2020 Melon Music Awards.

Joy is currently in the lead for the eligibility of the Bonsang Award, followed by ITZY, IZ*ONE, and Apink respectively. She only needs 112 points to qualify and fans have been actively promoting her to increase her points.

Also, Joy ranks number one as the most followed SM female artist on Instagram for almost two weeks now. But even with her evident potential as a solo artist, SM Entertainment has not revealed any plans to debut Joy as one.

According to the June Brand Reputation Rankings for girl groups, Joy ranked in fifth place with a brand reputation index of 1,767,275.

She is the only female idol who has not left the Top 10 since the year started, which is a feat considering she has only been self-promoting through her Instagram account.
