BLACKPINK sets another record with their latest single “Ice Cream” exploding in Youtube, generating 100 million views in just 40 hours.

On August 30, BLACKPINK’s MV for “Ice Cream,” featuring Selena Gomez, reached over 100 million views at 5:56 A. M. KST. The music video ranked 100 million views in just 40 hours and 56 minutes after its official release, which puts it on 2nd place in the group’s record after “How You Like That, which reached 100 million in just 32 hours.

Its also BLACKPINK’s ninth overall music video to surpass 100 million views, following “BOOMBAYAH,” “Playing With Fire,” “Whistle,” “As If You Were Last,” “Stay,” “DDU-DU-DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That.”

Since BLACKPINK released their latest single “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez, it has ranked in the number 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs in 38 countries and regions. The group’s single also did well on the U.S. And U.K. Music Charts, coming in at a second and third place in those countries, respectively.

Aside from that, BLACKPINK also reached a milestone on Youtube as they became the third most-subscribed artist on the platform. According to YG Entertainment, the group’s Youtube Channel surpassed 45.6 million subscribers by 8 P.M. KST on August 28, beating Ed Sheeran.

In other news, BLACKPINK’s single “How You Like That” was announced as the Song of Summer at the 2020 MTV VMAs. The Song of Summer is a category based on fan votes on social media with this year’s voting took place on MTV’s Instagram story. This is the first girl group who won at the said award show.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s single “How You Like That” held onto the top spot for eight weeks in a row, breaking the Soompi’s Music Chart for the song with the most weeks in No. 1. Boyband BIGBANG held the previous record with their single “Lies” in 2007.
