Cha Tae Hyun, in the uploaded video of Kim Gura on his official YouTube account on August 21 titled "When Kim Gura Who Likes Golf Meets Cha Tae Hyun," shared his honest feelings regarding his gambling controversy.

In March 2019, Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho were reported to have engaged in gambling over golf games together based on the text messages in the "2 Days & 1 Night" group chatroom obtained from Jung Joon Young's phone. At the time, Chae Tae Hyun issued an apology and clarified that the golf games did not take place abroad, and the money was returned immediately afterward. The actor went on a hiatus for over a year after he and Kim Hoon Ho stepped down from their programs.

When Kim Gura asked Chae Tae Hyun about his hiatus activities, the latter replied that he walked by the Han River a lot. He continued that he naturally started wearing a watch that doubled as a pedometer, and with a laugh, added that he thought a lot while resting and was able to hear all kinds of comments.

Cha Tae Hyun expressed his embarrassment at the amount of support he received. He shared that everyone supported him, and he heard a lot of supportive comments despite what he did. Many producing directors (PD) sent him text messages, and he was embarrassed because of that. "Ultimately, I made a mistake. I was embarrassed that I kept getting supported and comforted."

Meanwhile, the actor returned to the public eye in a recent drama of OCN titled "Team Bulldog: Off-Duty Investigation." He also appeared in a variety show, "Hometown Flex," where Cha Tae Hyun remarked that the guests are distinguished, and what he likes most is that the guests enjoy themselves so much.

Cha Tae Hyun casually shared that he still does play golf, but since he does not have enough time these days, he seldom plays. He continued that after the issue arose, he refrained from going, afraid about hearing comments when he gets there.

"But there was an instance where I got a lot of support and encouragement at the golf course. Some people, which I don't know, are cheering me on, and I was so embarrassed."
