BTS's Jungkook to Make History as First Korean Solo Headliner at U.S. 'Global Citizen Festival'
BTS's Jungkook is set to take over New York.
According to the official Global Citizen channel on September 6th (local time), Jungkook will be headlining the '2023 Global Citizen Festival' taking place in New York's Central Park on the 23rd.
The 'Global Citizen Festival' is a large-scale charity concert organized by the international civic movement 'Global Citizen'. Since its inception in 2012, the annual event aims to raise awareness about global issues such as extreme poverty, hunger, and climate change. BTS previously graced the '2021 Global Citizen Live' stage, delivering performances of "Permission to Dance" and "Butter" against the backdrop of Korea's iconic Sungnyemun Gate.
Marking his first appearance as a solo artist, Jungkook will be joining the headliner lineup alongside American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and pop star Lauryn Hill. This marks the first time a Korean solo artist will headline the 'Global Citizen Festival'.
Jungkook expressed his excitement, stating, "I'm truly thrilled to be participating as a headliner in this year's 'Global Citizen Festival'. I'm honored to be a part of such a meaningful event. I can't wait to perform in front of so many people."
