Illegal Motorcycle Ride: Singer Jeong Dong-won Gets Suspended Indictment - 'Considering His Minor Status & Ongoing Reflection'
The prosecutor's office has issued a suspended indictment to singer Jeong Dong-won, who was caught riding a motorcycle on a car-only road.
On May 25, the 3rd Criminal Department of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutor's Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Jang-woo) announced the suspended indictment decision against Jeong Dong-won.
The prosecution explained, "The accused is a minor and a first-time offender, committed the act without fully understanding the laws due to his recent acquisition of a license, is deeply remorseful, and has pledged not to re-offend. We also considered the equity with other similar cases."
A suspended indictment refers to a measure where a prosecutor concludes the investigation without proceeding to trial, even though criminal suspicions have been confirmed, due to the minor nature of the case.
Previously, Jeong Dong-won was caught by the police who responded to a report at 12:16 a.m. on March 23rd, while riding a motorcycle near Gunja Bridge in the direction of Seongsu on the Dongbu Urban Expressway, a car-only road in Seoul.
Meanwhile, Jeong Dong-won gained significant attention for his appearance on TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot.' Currently, a program featuring Jeong Dong-won's global travel stories, 'Earth Exploration Life,' airs every Tuesday at 9:10 p.m. on MBN.
