FIFTY FIFTY Ascends to Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Chart Summit with Debut Single 'Cupid', a First for Any Group
FIFTY FIFTY, a fresh face in the K-pop scene, has just set an impressive record on the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) chart.
According to the latest Billboard chart (as of May 27), FIFTY FIFTY, with their debut single 'The Beginning: Cupid', have hit number one on the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) chart with the song 'Cupid' released on February 24.
Previously, only BTS and BLACKPINK had reached number one on the Billboard Global chart. 'Cupid' becomes the fourth K-pop track to achieve this feat, following 'Dynamite' (number one five times), 'Life Goes On' (number one once), and 'Pink Venom' (number one three times).
Remarkably, FIFTY FIFTY is the first girl group in the world to debut at number one on this chart since its inception in September 2020. They are also currently making waves on the 'Global 200' chart, which calculates the total digital sales and online streaming worldwide, including the U.S. Last week, they climbed one notch up to second place.
Billboard analyzed the success of 'Cupid', attributing it to the original and twin versions of the track, as well as the instrumental version. TikTok was identified as a key factor in the single's growth.
Previously, FIFTY FIFTY's 'Cupid' had reached number 17 on the Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100', maintaining its place on the chart for a record-breaking eight consecutive weeks. This is the highest record for a solo song by a K-pop girl group, matching the record set by BLACKPINK's collaboration with Selena Gomez on 'Ice Cream'.
