BTS 'Boy With Luv' Achieves 'Double Platinum' Certification in Japan
K-pop group BTS has secured a "double platinum" certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
According to the association on April 25th, BTS' title track "Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)" from their April 2019 mini-album "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA" has accumulated over 200 million plays, earning them a double platinum certification (as of March 2023).
With this accomplishment, BTS now has four "double platinum" certified works, including "Dynamite," "Permission to Dance," and "Butter."
Among these, "Dynamite" has achieved a "diamond" certification, while "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" have earned "triple platinum" certifications.
"Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)" is a song that tells the story of the joy found in small and simple love, focusing on the subject's interest and love. Popular American singer Halsey participated in the track as a featured artist.
Upon release, the song entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 8 and remained on the chart for eight consecutive weeks.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan certifies songs as gold (over 50 million plays), platinum (over 100 million plays), and diamond (over 500 million plays) based on the accumulated play count and announces these certifications monthly through its official website.
