BLACKPINK's Coachella performance has garnered widespread praise from international media outlets.

Recently, August Brown, a pop music journalist for the LA Times, compared the K-pop girl group's headlining performance at Coachella on Saturday to that of Beyoncé, attracting significant attention.

Brown wrote, "On this day, the fandom of K-pop superstars was front and center Saturday night. Some fans lined up at the stage barricade the moment the gates opened to greet their stars."

He added that Coachella has been witnessing a shift, and it chose a K-pop headliner and the first all-female group to represent that change.

He continued, "Coachella has already moved away from its indie and alternative rock-centric roots, embracing pop and hip-hop for aesthetic, financial, and generational reasons. From the moment BLACKPINK counted down to 'Pink Venom,' their performance felt more grand and technically impressive than any artist who has graced this stage since Beyoncé made history in 2018."

Brown also complimented the group's physical and vocal performances, stating, "Members Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa illuminated Coachella with the brilliance of K-pop. They knew how to make the most of the massive stage under the towering temple roof." He added, "BLACKPINK's level of physical performance is unrivaled, and their vocals were flawless, even amidst dynamic dances."

In conclusion, Brown mentioned BTS's Jungkook, suggesting that he would agree that "BLACKPINK is the best K-pop group and made Coachella even bigger and better."

In contrast to a domestic media outlet's harsh criticism of the group's headlining abilities, international media has predominantly showered praise on BLACKPINK.

During their performance, BLACKPINK presented a hit parade that included their solo tracks, "Pink Venom," "WHISTLE," "Lovesick Girls," "PLAYING WITH FIRE," and "Shut Down," all of which have received explosive love from global fans. The group shared their emotional thoughts, saying, "It feels like a dream to be back at Coachella, the world's most loved music festival. This time, we're headlining. We think our dream has come true. It's all thanks to you that we could come from the Sahara to the main stage in four years. We're grateful and love you."

BLACKPINK performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, on April 15 at 9 PM local time. After making their debut as the first Korean girl group at Coachella in 2019, they returned this year as the festival's first-ever K-pop headliner. The group is set to perform at the festival once more on April 22 and will become the first K-pop artist to headline the UK's largest music festival, 'Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival,' in July.
