Jimin, a member of the global supergroup BTS, has achieved the highest ranking for a K-pop solo artist on the US Billboard Main Album Chart, the "Billboard 200,: with his first official solo album "FACE."

According to an article published on Billboard's website on April 2nd (local time), "FACE" debuted at number 2 on the "Billboard 200" after its release on March 24th. Previously, the highest ranking K-pop soloist on the chart was fellow BTS member RM, whose album 'Indigo' reached number 3. TWICE member Nayeon's solo mini-album :I'M NAYEON" followed at number 7.

BTS members have entered the "Billboard 200" several times as solo artists. RM achieved the 26th spot with his 2018 album "mono." Suga's mixtape "D-2," released under the pseudonym Agust D, reached number 11, while J-Hope's first solo album "Jack In The Box" and mixtape "Hope World" ranked at numbers 17 and 38, respectively.

"FACE" recorded the highest sales among K-pop soloists in its first week, with 164,000 equivalent album units sold. The album sold 124,000 traditional albums, 13,500 streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and 26,500 track equivalent albums (TEA). The TEA sales marked the highest since American pop star Taylor Swift's "Midnights" in November of the previous year.

Jimin's "FACE" title track, "Like Crazy," is predicted to debut in the top ranks of the Billboard Main Singles Chart, the "Hot 100," due to its overwhelming TEA performance. Some even predict that it could reach number 1. BTS has topped the 'Hot 100' six times, while Psy's "Gangnam Style" holds the record for K-pop soloists, reaching number 2 in 2012.

Jimin has been setting various records for K-pop soloists with "FACE." According to Hanteo Chart, the album sold 1,020,000 copies on the day of its release, making Jimin the first K-pop solo artist to sell over 1 million copies in a single day. The album also set a new record for K-pop soloists with 1,450,000 copies sold in its first week.
