TIME Magazine has just released the list of five best K-pop songs of 2022 in no particular order. According to staff writer Kat Moon, the best songs of the year surprised everyone with their lyrics, sound, and, of course, the feelings they evoked.

Moreover, all five songs on the list have an undeniable replay value that will stay for a long time.

"BTBT" by B.I x Soulja Boy Feat. DeVita

TIME describes the song about how one loses balance in the face of romance. The song's title itself is a short form of "biteulbiteul," which means "staggering" in Korean. However, the song does not move from its way in the declaration of love.

B.I. has collaborated with DeVita and Soulja Boy on this groovy song that attracts everyone with its inviting lyrics and smooth melodies. Gradually, well into the song, it begins to mimic the sound of a person's accelerated heartbeat.

"GingaMingaYo (the strange world)" by Billlie

TIME said that Billie, with a whimsical and eclectic sound, stands out among numerous other rookie bands that are trying to make their mark in K-pop.

Kat Moon thinks that the song is both weird and also weirdly brilliant, with its boisterous beats, and chirpy chants mixed with Billie's enthusiastic singing about the uncertainties of adulting.

"Hello" by Treasure

This song is described as both futuristic and nostalgic due to its similarity to the sounds of early 2010s pop while Treasure's delivery makes it sound like something from the future, especially the snazzy rap verses by Haruto, Yoshi, and Hyunsik.

According to Kat Moon, if someone could capture the inside of one's ear through a painting, that's exactly what the visual representation of listening to the song would seem like.

"Hype Boy" by NewJeans

The song had gone viral this year for its dance challenge, and as per TIME, the inspired choreography only highlights the song's vibrant spirit.

NewJeans is a rookie band that only made its debut this year under ADOR, which is a subsidiary of HYBE, best known for managing BTS.

"Hype Boy" is described as a song whose mainstay is the chorus and post-chorus soaring vocals.

"Love Dive" by IVE

"Love Dive" is about a mysterious attraction that asks for exploration and leaves the listener looking for more of IVE's charm.

Interestingly, no song by two of K-pop's present biggest groups, BTS or BLACKPINK, features on the list, though they both released albums this year.
