Fans Demand SM Entertainment To Protect EXO's Kai After Receiving Malicious Comments On Weibo
Weibo is the largest social media channel in China, and EXO Kai is one of the prominent targets of bashers. As per Kpopstarz, the K-pop idol has been receiving hate, malicious, and harmful criticisms for no apparent reason for the past few weeks. The case led EXO's fans, who call themselves EXO-Ls, to step into the scene to protect Kai.
For a few days now, the fandom has been using their loud voices in calling out the attention of Kai's home management and recording label SM Entertainment to act out on the matter to protect him from bashers.
On August 31 (Monday), Kai's fans, Erigoms, and the EXO-Ls trended the hashtag #SMProtectKai on Twitter. The wise move comes after the malicious messages sent to Kai on Weibo. The fans' tweets and comments say that the hate Kai is receiving is getting worse as the days go by, and it even intrudes on his personal life.
In one of the troubling comments written on Weibo, the bashers mock Kai for his color and demeanor, blurting out ill words and curses to the idol. There are also insults and death threats that involve his family.
One fan tweeted that Kai has always been receiving non-stop hate in Weibo. It is painful for his fans and family to see, especially that the K-pop idol previously revealed that quickly gets upset and affected by hate comments. "…pls just leave him alone & focus on ur favs for once," the fan added.
Not only Kai's Korean fans are upset about the matter, but also his fans in China. Alongside Erigoms and EXO-Ls, the Cherries (Chinese fandom of Kai) also expressed their concerns toward their idol.
Furthermore, the fans are pleading for a partnership with SM Entertainment to stop the hateful comments. The idol's international fans are also spreading images and posters on how EXO-Ls can help gain the agency's attention.
